Team Tweets - Meet Status
Get Notified!
Here's why you should care...
When lightning interrupts a swim meet, the pool deck must be cleared by order of the pool manager. That means that all swimmers, meet workers and spectators must go into the bathrooms, pool house or outside the pool facility to wait out the bad weather.
When lightning subsides, the pool manager may re-open the pool. If lightning persists and the pool remains closed, the TSA representatives of both teams must determine when to postpone or cancel the meet
In the past, it has been difficult to notify all concerned parties that the meet will resume, or that it has been postponed or canceled. When swimmers don't return for a resumed meet, we potentially lose points. Families can also avoid waiting and wondering somewhere outside the pool facility.
Introducing Team Tweets
To address these problems, we have set up a Twitter account for our TSA representative to use solely for the purpose of notifying swimmers and their families when a meet will resume, or that a meet has been suspended, postponed or canceled. You can elect to receive notifications (called Tweets) by text message delivered to your mobile phone, or you can check the status in the box above. Status messages are delivered instantly to both this web page and your mobile phone.
